Shootfighting® Rank
Shootfightingï® has levels like other martial arts’ belt systems. However in Shootfightingï® since we do not wear belts, belts are referred to as Levels and/or Rank. The following information outlines the Shootfightingï® Rank System and corresponding instructor levels.
We will start with the fact that all of our students are trained to become great competitors with awesome conditioning and also to become teachers or instructors. There are many great athletes that are unable to teach someone how to do their sport. In the same sense there are also great coaches who are far from great athletes. In Shootfightingï® we emphasize both; how to be a superior athlete and a superior instructor.
We begin with the Rank of Shodoka. This is an Instructor Level Rank, just before Black Rank. Then comes 1st Black Rank (Zenjo-Ichi / Level 9) followed by 2nd Black (Zenjo-Ni / Level 10) then the Instructor Level Rank of Shoginka. After Shoginka comes 3rd Black Rank (Zenjo-San / Level 11) followed then by 4th Black Rank (Zenjo-Shi / Level 12). After 4th comes the Instructor Level Rank of Shokinka, then 5th Black Rank (Zenjo-Go / Level 13). Black Rank is shown by a Black Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Gold. Let’s stop here with Black Ranks and go back to the beginning, White Rank.
White Rank is shown by a White Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Copper. Students wear white gi pants or grey shorts with the ISFA Logo. Pants/shorts remain the same as Rank is earned until Blue Rank.
After White comes Yellow Rank (Kiha-Ichi / Level 1) shown by a Yellow Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Copper. Then Orange Rank (Kiha-Ni / Level 2) shown by an Orange Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Copper. After Orange is Purple Rank (Kiha-San / Level 3) shown by a Purple Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Silver. After Purple Rank comes Blue Rank (Kiha-Shi / Level 4).
Blue Rank is shown by a Blue Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Silver. Once a student as attained Blue Rank they can also wear black gi pants or black shorts with the ISFA Logo. (The ISFA Logo is always embroidered on the left leg.) At Blue Rank the student begins to learn how to teach. He/she will start by assisting an Assistant Instructor. As a Jr. Assistant Instructor he/she can also wear an Assistant Instructor Tee Shirt shown by a Black Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Logo in Red. This shirt can be worn by Jr. Instructors, Assistant Instructors, Instructors and Black Levels if he/she wishes.
After Blue comes Green Rank (Kiha-Go / Level 5). Green Rank is shown by a Green Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Silver. Then comes 3rd Brown (Naka-Ichi / Level 6). Brown Rank is shown with a Brown Tee Shirt with the Shootfightingï® Rank Logo in Gold. The student will then be eligible for Assistant Instructor followed by 2nd Brown (Naka-Ni / Level 7), then Sr. Assistant Instructor. After Sr. Assistant Instructor comes 1st Brown (Naka-San / Level 8) followed by Master Assistant Instructor then Instructor. Once a student has reached the Level of Instructor they have the opportunity to become licensed in an ISFA endorsed area. Only licensed schools (in current standing) certified by the ISFA can promote students to rank.
After Instructor follows Shodoka. If the student does not open or license an ISFA school he or she will be eligible for 1st Blank Rank (Zenjo-Ichi) within 1 year. If a licensed ISFA school and/or instructor stops training in Shootfightingï® and/or does not keep up with the required material they will no longer be a licensed training center, nor certified or ranked by the ISFA.
